 February 1, 2010

Welcome back to another exciting softball season. As you are reading this I sincerely hope that all is well with you and your extended family.

We are now well into the New Year and our hope is that we will have an early spring. It has been way too long since any of us have been fortunate enough to have been out on the softball diamond. I personally can not wait for the first signs of spring and the first assignment from Steve Hill.

Since we last met there has been a lot of discussion concerning the operation of the New Jersey Shore Amateur Softball Association. We have some exciting news and several changes that we are planning for the 2010 Season.  We will be implementing a new assigning system through the use of the Arbiter Software. We will have much more on this important change very soon.

John Cambridge has been busy preparing for the newest cadet class, attending regional and state ASA meetings and reviewing the 2010 rules and mechanics information.

John Hutchens has been busy with end of year financial reporting, insurance procurement and organizing the meeting dates and locations for 2010.

Steve Hill has been busy with league registrations, umpire registrations and team registrations.

John Gordon has been working closely with the entire tournament coordinators to insure a full slate of tournaments.

It is important to note that a lot of personal time is donated by the officers of the NJSASA to insure the effective operation of our group. I wanted to personally thank them for their efforts.

Most important of all is you the umpire. It is through your efforts and your love of umpiring that allows us to provide the best possible service to our leagues and players. We have an excellent reputation and we need to continue to work hard to maintain that reputation. Take the time now to prepare your self for the upcoming season. Check your uniforms, review the rules and prepare your self both mentally and physically.

Thank you for your efforts and I look forward to seeing all of you at our first meeting.
